Alumnus Harold L. (Hal) Manley entered Oregon State College in January 1938 and graduated in June 1940 with a BS degree in Civil Engineering. He worked briefly for the National Bureau of Standards after graduation and served in the US Marine Corps from 1942 to 1946. In 1946, he became a State Registered Civil Engineer in California; shortly thereafter he began working for the Department of Building and Safety of the City of Los Angeles where he remained until his retirement in 1975. ...

Stephen Prokofievitch Timoshenko, a world-renowned authority on theoretical and applied mechanics, was educated at the Munich Polytechnic Institute and at the University of Gottingen.
